Police are investigating a Milwaukee hit and run accident that occurred yesterday evening, which sent a man to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Apparently, the driver of a Chevy Suburban ran a stop light slamming into a 35-year-old man driving a PT Cruiser, resulting in serious injury. The driver of the Suburban left the scene afterward.
Leaving the scene of an accident, hit and run, is a serious matter. If there is substantial property damage or if someone is injured in an accident the operator of the vehicle is required by law to notify the police department immediately. Failure to do so will likely be treated as a criminal offense. Depending on the circumstances, penalties may range from fines and license suspension for less serious offenses to incarceration for more egregious acts.
