A property management coordinator for the Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services, whose duties include identifying possible drug houses in the community, has been charged with keeping a drug house herself. The woman, her son and another man are looking at felony charges of keeping a drug house, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, and the possession and intent to deliver heroine.
Tipped off by neighbors reporting signs of drug dealing at the residence, police searched the home of the city employee finding drugs and related paraphnalia, cash and a firearm. Although the employee denied any knowledge of wrongdoing and her son took responsibility for the items found stating they were for personal use only, some scoff at the notion that an employee with the explicit responsibility of identifying drug activity was completely unaware of the illegal activity going on in her home.
State and federal law prohibit the possession, manufacture, and sale of certain controlled substances including drugs like marijuana, methamphetamine, ecstasy, cocaine, and heroin. Penalties vary according to the specific amount of the controlled dangerous substance (CDS) involved, whether it was mere possession or was intended to be sold. If convicted of the felony drug charges, the suspects could face fines ranging in the tens of thousands and a substantial prison term.
