A Milwaukee firefighter was arrested after members of Milwaukee FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force found thousands of child pornography images on a tablet computer at the 44-year-old man’s workplace. The firefighter has been ordered to federal court on charges of possessing child pornography.
Child pornography offenders may be prosecuted under federal, state or both jurisdictions. Because child pornography crimes such as possession, manufacturing, distribution, or access with intent to view often involve illegal activities across state lines, federal authorities are often called in. However, many states will also pursue prosecutions against offenders.
Violations of state and federal child pornography laws can range from the production of child pornography to possession, distribution and receipt. Child pornography crimes are serious and can result in significant incarceration, fines and mandatory sex offender registration.
